Nearly 25,000 Experiencing Power in Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Storms
Around twenty-five thousand residences in southeastern Queensland found themselves without power on the start of the week after intense storm systems impacted the state, bringing powerful gusts topping 109km/h.
Substantial Ice Stones and Broad Impact
Residents reported large ice chunks as large as 7cm in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that different parts across the state had been affected by significant hail.

Victorian Weather Woes
Simultaneously, around 1,000 residents in Victoria also experienced energy failures after Melbourne saw its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations received 598 calls for help across the state, mostly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

At one point on Sunday, in excess of twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in the state were without power.
Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along significant areas of Queensland's east this week as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
The following day was expected to become the most rainy day, with ongoing storm activity predicted across multiple regions of both states.
Health Warning
Public health experts warned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This caution comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
